Rev. A. Roy Smith was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, raised in Fort Worth, Texas, and has lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth area all of his life. He lived in Houston, Texas a few years, as he attended and graduated from the University of Houston, with a BBA degree in Accounting.
Rev. Smith grew up as a member of the Carter Metropolitan CME Church, Fort Worth, where in May, 1980, he accepted the call to preach under the pastorate of the Rev. Willie McCalister and served as an Associate Minister and Senior Associate Minister. He continued his ministry, serving in the Fort Worth District, with Pastoral Assignments at Mt. Pisgah, Jacksboro, St. James, Gainesville, and currently, and for the last 23 years, as Pastor of Ezell Chapel, Dallas District.
Rev. Smith also served on the Joint Board of Finance, for the Dallas-Fort Worth Region, from 1994-2014. Presently, and for the last six years, he has served as the Region Treasurer and member of the Committee on Ministerial Examination.
Rev. Smith is married to Jacquelyn Welch Smith.
